Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Strategies: Calm Horizons 247 utilises DBT, an evidence-based therapy, to help clients manage intense emotions and improve their quality of life. DBT integrates techniques from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) with mindfulness and acceptance strategies.
Specialisation in Core DBT Modules: We focus on three key DBT skill areas:
Emotional Regulation: DBT teaches individuals to identify, understand, and manage their emotions effectively, reducing emotional vulnerability and reactivity. This involves learning skills such as checking the facts, opposite action, and increasing positive experiences.
Distress Tolerance: This module helps individuals cope with painful or difficult situations without resorting to harmful or impulsive behaviours. Skills include self-soothing, distraction, and radical acceptance.
